Discovering the Real You
Finding God's Gift of Well-Being
Introducing "Discovering the Real You Series"Socrates said, Know thyself The fact is that many people go through life never understanding what makes them think and feel the way they do. We all experience the Apostle Paul's feeling of bewilderment described in Romans chapter seven: For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing (vs. 18b-19). The main difference between Paul and the majority of people is that Paul clearly understood the cause of the struggle, as well as the solution. Early in this series, we deal with the Line of Reality or normalcy. This will give us a standard to follow. We need to see God's original intention for us. Then we will look at where we are from a biblical perspective. We will see the severe complexity of problems that have and can enter our lives as a result of sin. I have found that the majority of our problems can be resolved by a proper relationship with God. Each of us is on our own unique path of coming to God's resolutions to our problems. That path will be quite different for an incest victim, for example, than it will be for a person who experienced a different kind of loss. We must be very sensitive to the unique difficulties each person has in working his or her way to understanding God's solutions for their lives.
