We had a full house this morning at Bethel Church on the island of Weno. I preached on Psalm 23, gave an invitation and at least 70% of the audience responded. You’re seeing about half of the audience (picture below). It was a genuine move of God!

This is the church where Reverend John Robert–a major spiritual leader on the islands–served as pastor before he died an early death (age 53). He is missed to this day. This was where the first pastors’ conference was held that I addressed in the late 90s.

He gave me a miniature outrigger canoe as a gift. This canoe has no back. Both ends are like the front so that it can go either direction. The symbolism was meant to say, “Please come back and forth often.” Isn’t that neat?

By the way, you’re seeing correctly: The men sit on one side and the women on the other. And, yes, it was getting hot. Why the missionaries thought late morning in the tropics is a sacred hour I’ll never know. They might start holding their services earlier when it’s cooler–I hope!
